किछु न बुझे, किछु न सूझे, दुनिया गुझि भाहि साई मेरे चंगा कीता, नाही ता दंझा आही ||
This world is like hidden fire, no one has a clue My Master saved me, else I would have burnt too!

फरीदा जे तू अकलि लतीफु, काले लिखु ना लेख आपनड़े गिरिवान महि, सिरु नीवां करि देखु ||
Do not search in others Farida, their hidden vice If you have any discretion, gaze inside twice! 

फरीदा इकना आटा अगला एक्ने नाही लोणु अजै गए सिन्त्रापसण चोटा खासी कउणु ।।
Farida, some have food in plenty, some have none at all They will both be marked, who will be punished after all?


फरीदा सोई सरवर ढूढ़ि लहु जिथहु लभी वथु चपड़ी ढूढै किआ चिकड़ि डूबै हथु।।
Farida, thirst for the deep pond alone, you may find the real stuff Do not grope in shallow pond, you will only find the sludge!


मति होदी होइ इआणा ताण होदे होइ निताणा अणहोदे आपु वंडाए को ऐसा भगतु सदाए।।
Highly intelligent, yet is simple possesses power, still stays humble Possesses little, abundantly shares A true devout is he, unawares!


फरीदा दर दरवेसी गाखड़ी चलां दुनीआं भति ॥ बंन्हि उठाई पोटली किथै वंञा घति ॥2॥
Farida, the path is difficult and I follow ways of the world I don’t know where to throw my bundle, so I join the herd!


एकल चिंता राख अनंता, अउर तजहु सब आसा रे।। प्रणवै नामा भए निसकामा, को ठाकुर को दासा रे।।
Aspire for the limitless alone, other desires you may shun Nama says, without desire, God and subject become one!


का करउ जाती का करउ पाती, राम को नामु जपउ दिन राती।।
What do I do of caste, on clan why do I fight? His name alone do I chant, every day and night!


राम संगी नामदेव जिनहु प्रतीति आई।। एकादसी व्रत करै काहे कौ तीरथ जाई।।
In company of Rama, Namdeo resolved I need no fast, no pilgrim, to seek the God!


हिन्दू पूजे देहुरा मुसालमानु मसीती नाम सोई सेविआ , जह देहुरा ना मसीती

Hindu worships in temple, Mussalman worships in mosque Nama serves God, who resides not in the temple or the mosque!


सुदु सुदु करि मारि उठाइओ, कहा करू बापू बीठुला।। मूए हुए जउ मुकति देहगे, मुकति न जानै कोइला।।
Calling me low bred, low bred they hit, O distant one, what do I do, tell me? If you give me deliverance after death, What use will that be?


ए पंडीया मो कहु ढेढ़ कहत, तेरी पेज पिछाउंदी होइला।। तू जु दइआलु कृपालु कहीयतु है, अतिभाजु भाइयो अपारला।।
These Pundits are calling me low-bred You are called all powerful, merciful and limitless They are bringing disrepute on you, see!


जउ देखा तब गावा तऊ जान धीरज पावा।।
When I see, I sing Forbearance, then I bring!

मन मस्त हुआ फिर क्या बोले क्या बोले फिर क्योँ बोले हीरा पाया बांध गठरिया… बार बार वाको क्यों खोले हलकी थी जब चढ़ी तराजू पूरी भई तब क्या तोलै हंसा पावे मानसरोवर ताल तलैया में क्यों डोले तेरा साहब है घर माँहीं… बाहर नैना क्यों खोलै कहै कबीर सुनो भाई साधो… हे साहिब मिल गया तिल ओले When the mind is joyful, then what to say What to say, why then to say Found a diamond, wrapped in sack Why open it every moment, everyday! Light it was when put on scale, When it’s full, what do you weigh? Swan swims in the lakes divine In shallow ponds why do you lay? Your Lord is in your home Outside why do your eyes stray? Kabir says, listen oh Sadho In sesame have I found the Lord, pray!


देन हार कोउ और है, भेजत सो दिन रैन लोग भरमा हम पर करे, याते नीचे नैन।।
Giver is someone else, who day and night provides They mistake me for the giver, hence I lower my eyes.
